To all of you who came to the book fair and bought books for your kids at home or for us to read at school--THANK YOU SO MUCH!  On Tuesday the PTO brought me a BIG stack of books that were either donated to our classroom our bought by PTO with the proceeds from the book fair.  I love books and hope to share that with all the kids that come through my classroom this year and for years to come.  Union Valley is really a great place to be!

Crystal is HERE!!

Today (Sunday) I went to school to check on Crystal and she is out of her chrysalis!!  I am so excited to show her to the kids tomorrow and then let her out on the playground.  We are so lucky to have such wonderful people who made this wonder project possible!!

Spike the Spider

Our spider friend Spike is an escape artist and got out of his home 3 time this morning alone!  So unfortunately we had to say good-bye to him today.  We released him on the playground this morning.  We will go look for him or some of his friends and the wonderful webs that they make next week.  Maybe we will see him while we are on the playground...the kids sure are looking for him. If anyone knows of a better way to keep spiders in the classroom I would love to hear it!  We really did enjoy having him as a pet!

New Friends!!

We have 2 new friends in our classroom that we are very excited about.  We have Crystal the caterpillar, he is in a cocoon right now.  We also have a orb web spider, named Spike, who is hiding in a corner of his new home.  We hope that soon we will see some changes from them!  Today we made a hypothesis about what the caterpillar will look like when he comes out as a butterfly and what kind of web our spider will make.   Come back soon for updates about our friends!  By the way the kids names these friends all by themselves...aren't they great names!?!?
